At first, I thought it was pretty cool that I got an email from Bill Clinton at 10:00 am this morning. Then I read it.
Conclusion: The Democrats can't get out of their own way.
I'm not a Democrat. I'm not much of a Republican either, even though I'm pretty conservative on most fiscal and even social policies. I'm a real political junkie, though, and watch races on both sides of the house with enough intensity to like paying money to get a look at candidates up close and personal. That's probably why I got an email from Bill Clinton: I've paid to see Barak Obama, Gavin Newsom (SF Mayor), and Anna Eshoo, all Democrats. Most ironic, I paid for the right to see Hillary Clinton at a dinner in March in near San Francisco -- just last night. (I've also paid to see George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.)
And then I get an email from Bill Clinton telling me "I know her better than anybody on earth" and "Hillary and I couldn't do it without you". As soon as I read the email, I began to doubt my longstanding belief that Hillary is the next President of the United States, regardless of whether I agree with her. All that email succeeded in doing was to persuade me that Hillary doesn't think she can do it on her own. She needs to trot out Bill, who actually was president and who decided to cheat on her despite winning that amazing endorsement from the American people. In fact, the one thing that Hillary should never do is to use her husband for raising money, campaigning, or getting endorsements. If she can't win it on her own, then she doesn't deserve to represent our great country and its people.
I think Hillary's campaign just showed the lack of strategic ability that will bring Hillary down. So maybe I've already met the next President of the United States anyway -- and Barak only cost me $1,000 at the time!
