I'm just doing this post as a way to brag publicly about the fish that really was This Big.
See the picture. I got the chance to go to New Zealand in early August; the government paid my way in return for giving a speech and hanging for a couple of days with Kiwi entrepreneurs.
New Zealand is a great place to do business if you don't mind being Really Far Away from everyone else doing business; there are a few outstanding entrepreneurs doing that. So the hanging out part was fun in itself. But then I took a weekend to go fishing. My guide, Mark Aspinall, who has been guiding around the Taupo area his whole adult life, took me to the Tongariro River for both days. I caught this monster on the first day....
Jesus Stew, that's a nice cut throat. What I love about NewZealand is that on North Island, any brown trout less than 18 inches has to b returned. hell any brown trout at 18-inches is a landlocked barracuda in my book.
Enviously yours,
Jim Forbes
